Lets see here....
If I have to carry my paperbound bible to 5 meeting a week, plus 10(ish) hours of field service, it is sure to wear out eventually. Then I will "donated" $5-$10 for my new one next year. While I am doing so, WTBS can be changing little details, just like in their other publications.
Someday, they will announce that only the paperbound books should be used, and to discard all hardcover books. This way the 'new light' can be added as needed.
Friends, is it not wonderful that Jehovah has given us this extra helping of undeserved kindness?"

Our Own Conference
by Valis ini know there are conferences that xjws attend, but since i ran accross joy castro's writings and new book today it got me thinking about the subject.
something non-religious in nature.....well as non religious as xjws can get anyway lol.
i think it would be cool if we could have people like her, kimberly norris, bryan, donald, and so many of the others that have done stuff for us.

Valis,
I recently attended a 2-day conference sponsored by and for the benefit of a group of safety educators. They paid for a large portion of the conference expenses not just by having sponsors, but by giving each sponsor about 10 minutes of stage time, guaranteeing them some real exposure. For example, " The refreshements at the morning break are sponsored by the Watchtower Bible and Corruption Society, who will speak for a few minutes on how to develop a cult-like following in a major city."
The vendors love it, the attendees usually are polite enough not to make a mass exedous as the sponsor speaks, and everybody wins.

Everything I Ever Needed To Know... I learned at the Kingdom Hall
by POs Son intoday my mother, a devoted jw of 40+ years, expalined to me that studying the watchtower publications "taught her" how to study!
she went on to describe how the weekly watchtower study taught her how to truly study, by underlining the most important part of the paragraph.
funny, i do not recall that as the primary method of study for the rest of the world - most of the textbooks i have read did not have a numbered set of questions at the end of each paragraph.

1a. Who explained to the author of this text explained how being a JW helped her with study habits? 1b. How can you apply this skill to your ministry? 1c. When did Jesus use a highlighter?

Spiral Binding of WT Publications
by POs Son init seems that the daniel book is due to be studied again, so says my jw parents.
my father mentioned that he brought the book, presumably a 192 page soft cover book, to the local print shop to be spiral bound and have the covers laminated.
i almost said, but bit my tongue, "don't you suppose the society could make a great income if they simply found a way to offer spiral binding and cover lamination for a fee?

I see that my folks have some sort of copied handout available for their book study every week. It looks like clippings from the KM or similar, they scan it in to the computer, then print it on the inkjet printer.... pricey! I remember the book covers from Ireland... apparently in the 1980s, they did not get literature as qucikly as the US, so they got "stuff" instead... vinyl bookmarks, book covers etc. Somewhere around here I still have a nice burgundy book cover for the large 1984 songbook.
